OKO WEST PROJECT

Reunion Gold's Oko West Project is in northwest Guyana and located south of the historical "Oko" gold district. Reunion Gold's trenching and drilling discovered gold mineralization in shear zones coinciding with gold-in-soil anomalies and geological structures identified from airborne geophysical surveys. The ongoing drilling program confirms the downward and on-strike extension of mineralized zones.

Location

The Oko West Project is in the Cuyuni Mining District, some 95 km west of Georgetown and accessible by the Puruni laterite road and trails from the town of Itabali on the Mazaruni river   (Figure 1).

Mineral rights and agreement

The Oko West Project comprises 10,880 acres of mineral rights held by local Guyanese entrepreneurs. Reunion entered into agreements entitling it to conduct exploration activities and acquire a 100% interest in the Project area.

Geology and mineralisation

The Oko West Project area is underlain by a greenstone belt assemblage of Proterozoic rocks of the Barama Group consisting of volcanics and clastic sediments intruded by granitic plutons, strongly deformed by at least two tectonic events. Gold mineralization has been discovered in north-south trending shear zones straddling the contact of volcano-sedimentary and granitoid bodies at the eastern edge of the Project area  (Figure 2). The tectonic interaction between these rocks created intense shearing and allowed gold mineralization in open spaces, characterized by carbonate and sericitic alteration accompanying quartz veining with sulphides.

Exploration work

In 2019, Reunion completed geological mapping, stream sediment geochemistry, and a detailed airborne magnetic and radiometric survey.

Geochemistry

In 2020, soil sampling at every 50 m on 200 m-spaced lines defined gold anomalies coinciding with the geological contact of volcano-sedimentary and granitoid rocks over a strike length of 6 km  (Figure 2).

Trenching

The Company tested soil gold anomalies by channel samples collected on the walls of mechanized trenches dug at approximately 200 m intervals and totalling over 7,500 meters. Assay results from 33 trenches were reported  (Figure 3). The trenching program confirmed the footprint of the mineralized shear zones discovered in 2020 for 2.5 kilometres.

Drilling

On February 18, 2021, the Company reported assay results from its initial 1,000-meter diamond drilling program. As a proof of concept, this program successfully tested the vertical continuity of gold mineralization in saprolite under trenches 4, 9, 18 and 19.

The encouraging results prompted Reunion Gold to launch a 11,000-meter drilling program to systematically test the vertical and lateral continuity of trench gold anomalies previously identified in eight exploration "blocks" along three mineralized north-south shear zones over the northern 3 km of the soil gold anomaly (Figure 4). This drilling program was designed with east-west drill “fences” spaced at every 100 meters to facilitate future resource estimates. The program began on June 17, 2021, with one diamond drill rig, and, on July 25, the Company added a reverse circulation drill rig to complement the coverage of the known mineralized footprint and explore new mineralized zones. As of September 21, 2021, a total of 42 diamond drill holes for 4,864 meters and 62 reverse circulation holes for 4,842 metres had been completed.

Given the excellent results obtained (highlights shown in Figure 4), the Company is conducting a 9,000-meter drilling program starting in the fourth quarter of 2021 with the objective of defining gold mineralization to an average depth of 150 meters in Blocks 1 and 4 and explore other targets in the mineralized trend. The Company is currently using two diamond and one reverse circulation drill rigs for this job.

Available assay results are listed in Table 1.
